ILMxLAB’s latest virtual reality experience, Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge, extends and expands the world of Batuu and Black Spire Outpost like never before. And just as Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the epic immersive lands at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort, introduced new characters and locations into the Star Wars galaxy, the same is true with Tales. In this series, we’ll introduce you to some of the new residents — and travelers — you’ll run into while exploring Batuu.
If you’re thirsty, you’re in the right place!
Seezelslak is an Azumel bartender that runs his own namesake cantina on the outskirts of Black Spire Outpost. While it isn’t as well known as some other nearby establishments, Seezelslak’s Cantina offers its own unique charms, whether it’s a Repulsor Darts board, the best jukebox on Batuu, or a breathtaking view of the famed Millennium Falcon. But, the most memorable feature is Seezelslak himself.
Gruff, but good-natured, the bartender loves welcoming new customers to his cantina, eager to share his own unique perspective on Batuu’s history and residents. (Except when it comes to porgs. He really doesn’t like porgs.) Seezelslak is particularly known for his exotic drinks, made with rare ingredients that can be found in the wilds of Batuu. And if Seezelslak really takes a liking to you, you may just hear one of his famed stories.
Seezelslak’s Tales, as they’re known by the residents of Batuu, take place from all eras of the galaxy — even going back hundreds of years to The High Republic, an era where the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order were at their zenith, serving and protecting the galaxy. His stories are so incredibly vivid that some regulars say that when you hear one of Seezelslak’s Tales, it can feel like you’re living it yourself.

Oh hey, welcome in!
The performer that brings Seezelslak to life is Saturday Night Live alum Bobby Moynihan. A longtime Star Wars fan, Moynihan was a perfect fit due to his extensive background in comedy and ability to zero in on a character’s core attributes.
“I play Seezelslak,” he told ILMxLAB earlier this year. “He’s a little kooky. Maybe being alone, and not having a lot of customers, has affected him.” Moynihan was responsible not only for the vocal performance, but for the facial capture that the ILMxLAB team used to animate the character as well.
It all comes together for an unforgettable performance, with Moynihan’s talent for improvisation bringing the final touch to Seezelslak’s antics. “He’s an artist when it comes to this stuff,” said director Jose Perez III. “We write a line, and then Bobby will take that line and he’ll expand on it through improv.” The result is a character you’ll want to spend time with whenever you visit Batuu.
You can meet Seezelslak for yourself in Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge, available November 19 on the Oculus Quest platform.
